The Parents, Staff and Friends Association has a long and successful history of providing much-needed, additional funds for the school. We raise money by putting on events for both students and parents and families and running a successful lottery.
All parents, carers and staff are automatically members of the Association. The purpose of the association is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by:
A) Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school
B) Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils – which might not normally by funded by usual school funding sources.
All children will benefit in some way from the funds we raise during their time at the school. In recent years we have provided a sound booth, musical instruments, extra drinking fountains, playground equipment and much more.
We aim to give the school £10,000 a year and we rely on the help of parents to raise this significant amount of money.
After 6 years on the PSFA with three as Secretary and Vice Chair, and one as Chair I will not be standing for re-election at our AGM in October. With the retirement of our Treasurer because his son has now left the school, this puts the Association at significant risk. We have 4 elected positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. It is a condition of our constitution that we can only continue if we have at least two elected positions in post. That being said it is not possible to carry out all the activities that we do with only two elected members and therefore our fundraising will be significantly affected.
You are therefore all invited to attend the next AGM which will be held on 5th October. The Agenda is as follows:
- Apologies for Absence
- Minutes of the last AGM
- Matters arising
- Chair’s report
- Treasurer’s report
- Appointment of the independent examiner
- Election of committee members:
- Vice Chair
- Election of Officers:
- Catering Supplies
- Help at school events
- Website & Social Media
- School Discos
- Dinner Dance
- School Uniform
- Special business
- Closure of the PSFA
- Any other business
- Date of Next Meeting
If we are unable to elect sufficient members to the positions listed above at the AGM it is proposed that we will close the PSFA. This is a last resort but unless we are able to recruit some more parent and staff volunteers we will have no other choice. We need 8 people to be present at the meeting in order to make it official and for the elections to be valid. If we have less than 8 then a two-thirds majority of those present is required to close the Association.
